Tom has been professionally involved in animal welfare for 19 years, performing in various roles during that time. Most recently, as Executive Director, Tom is focused on preventing overpopulation and implementing a variety of affordable care programs aimed at keeping pets in their homes, with their families, and out of area shelters.
Tom currently shares his life with the ever-entertaining Piper, a shelter alum and total goofball.
Piper came to the SPCA as a puppy and soon found herself being fostered by our executive director. It ended up being a "foster fail" when Tom realized they had adopted each other.
Piper often accompanies Tom to the shelter. You will find her "working" in his office. In her role as CHO, Piper greets visitors, volunteers, and donors with a wagging tail and lean in to be sure you get to pet her. This alum brings extra cheer to the shelter. Make sure you ask to see her - she'll even pose for a photo with you!
