On Friday, May 14, Corning Community College held a "From the community, for the community" day of service in which students, staff and faculty volunteered at area organizations. The President of Corning Community College, Floyd F. Amann, Ph.D., volunteered at the Chemung County Humane Society and SPCA along with a dozen other volunteers.
The volunteers worked on several projects. They bathed shelter animals to get them ready for adoption, painted a storage shed and worked on landscaping. This day of volunteering helped the Chemung County SPCA complete tasks that the organization usually doesn't have the staff on hand to finish. With these volunteers help, both the organization's building and its residents were beautified to make the shelter more appealing to the public.
