On Fat Tuesday, Feb. 16, the Chemung County Humane Society & SPCA will celebrate Mardi Gras in a big way! Not only will there be beads galore, but all animals dubbed 'Fat Cats' or 'Pudgy Pooches' will be adoptable at a 25 percent discount for one week only from Feb. 15 through Feb.20.

"Promotions are a great way to get the animals out the door and into loving, forever homes," said Barbara McLean, executive director of the Chemung County SPCA. "That way, we will have room to take in more homeless, abandoned and abused animals."

Animals included in the promotion will have signs on their accommodations distinguishing them from the rest of the shelter residents. Dogs that are usually 125 will be $93.75 and cats that are usually $80 will be $60.
