In an effort to support and partner with the Chemung County Humane Society and SPCA, Simmons Rockwell Subaru donated $3,000 to the organization to match adoption fees from December 18 to January 4.
"We can do a lot with this generous donation," said Barbara McLean, executive director of the Chemung County SPCA. "This amount will provide 300 animal care days. One animal care day is what it costs to care for one animal for one day in the shelter."
Simmons Rockwell matched the adoption fee in donations to the shelter each time an animal was adopted during this time period. There were 29 cat adoptions and five dog adoptions.
The partnership between the two organizations was fostered by a larger partnership between the ASPCA, North America's oldest animal welfare organization headquartered in New York City, and Subaru of America. The ASPCA worked with local animal welfare organizations to create partnerships with their local Subaru dealerships in order to increase funds and adoptions during the holiday season.
