In celebration of National Adopt-a-Shelter Dog Month, the Chemung County Humane Society and SPCA, Inc. is offering half-price adoptions on all dogs adopted from the shelter from Oct. 19 to Oct. 24. This means dogs, which are usually priced at $125, will be only $62.50 with qualifying criteria and an approved adoption application.
"We always commemorate October as Adopt-a-Shelter Dog Month," said Barbara McLean, executive director for the Chemung County Humane Society and SPCA, Inc. "This year, we'd like the public to celebrate with us by coming to the shelter and adopting a dog at half price."
In addition to half-price adoptions for this week, the Chemung County SPCA will be holding a special dog food drive that week. Community members who plan to visit the shelter are encouraged to bring in a bag of food for the dogs in celebration of this special month.
