ADOPTION INFORMATION

Adopting a Friend
Because of the thousands of unwanted animals born each day, the SPCA requires that all cats and dogs adopted from the shelter be spayed /neutered within 30 days from the day of adoption, or when the puppy or kitten reaches the appropriate age. Our adoption fees include a free visit to a cooperating veterinarian if the appointment is made within five days. In addition, NYS Law requires that we obtain from adopters a minimum $35.00 spay/neuter deposit that will be refunded with proof that your pet was spayed /neutered.

Adoption Application

Before you decide to bring a new addition into your family,
please ask yourself some very important questions:
Will my lifestyle allow time for a pet?
Am I willing to make a commitment to a pet for their lifetime?
Am I willing to devote the time and patience that is required to help a pet adjust to a new home?
What will I do with my pet when I travel?
Am I prepared for the additional expense that pet ownership involves?

ADOPTION FEES

Puppies/Dogs ~ $120.00 (Cost includes spay/neuter deposit, shots and microchip with qualifying criteria)
Cats and Kittens ~ $50.00 (Cost includes spay/neuter deposit, shots and microchip with qualifying criteria)

All cats must leave the shelter housed safely in a carrier. If you do not bring a carrier with you, we will gladly sell you a carrier. Cat Carrier: $6.00

Microchip Policy
In an effort to reduce the number of lost pets in our community, the CCHS/SPCA is now microchipping every cat and dog adopted from the shelter granted they are big enough to implant the chip. The $10.00 cost of the microchip is included in the adoption fees listed above. All microchip information is stored in a national database, so that if the need arises, the owner can easily be located.
